Evangelicals Skeptical about Mitt Romney Being Mormon: Bob McDonnell is Solution in 2012

Last Night a Rick Santorum Supporter said the Evangelicals would not work to elect Mitt Romney because he was in a CULT....ouch!

Then I called a college educated evangelical whose prominent in the Middle Tennessee community & this person has supported many candidates the last year basically the “anyone but Romney" candidate including:

Palin~Bachmann~Perry~Cain~Gingrich~Santorum.

That person had previously argued with me that Catholics were NOT Christian. Last night I pointed out that their last “two” choices for president were NOT in their minds Christian so then I was bold and asked if he’s the nominee “are you open to accepting Romney?”   The answer was NO. We discussed this & again it’s the CULT issue.  Romney will have to get a Baptist (Evangelical) VP to do ALL the campaigning in the “deep” south (Mitt can campaign in Florida…just “fly by” Tennessee, Mississippi, & Alabama).

How about Bob McDonnell?  That Conservative governor could be the “red meat” for the BBQ.    OK that “roadblock” for Romney is taken care of… now we have to work on the purple states.
Luckily most of the “swing states” are more educated than the south but many do think Mormonism is a cult….  So I’m now asking

What is a cult?   Below is the definition….
Cult A relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister

Are Mormons strange or Sinister?
To MOST of America Mormon’s are “weird” my personal issue with them is they don’t drink coffee.   Also whenever a Mormon friend got married I could only go to the punch and cake reception.   Because I was NOT welcome into their temple during important moment of my friends lives made me uncomfortable and that isolated me from the Mormon faith.  So part of the “disconnect” that many “average” American moderates is the fault of that faith for not opening the doors of accepting religious diversity.

A Jewish voter I questioned about the candidates told me he was “mad that the Mormons converted holocaust victims.”  Then he then said “I really wanted Huntsman to win”….huh?
He told me that getting his vote was not about a person’s religion it was about the economy and global leadership. That man told me he votes 99% democratic but is not happy with the current administration.  He said Jon Huntsman was his “only other option” he saw.

I learned he liked Huntsman for his pragmatic economic agenda and his global diplomatic experience. The China issue is big to that voter.

Then I asked him a stupid question “Did you know Huntsman is Mormon?”

Of course he did.
It’s my theory that in the minds of the voting population there are different levels of commitment to a religion that would alter the reaction on “how someone would vote” and that man and others saw Jon Huntsman as being accepting of ALL religions.

Jon Huntsman would have been opposed to the conversion of the Jews and by his candidacy he tried to show America that the Republican Party accepts diversity and this is proven by his own family portrait.

I think at the RNC convention in Tampa Mr. Huntsman needs to be one of the televised speakers on the 1st night of the RNC convention followed by Herman Cain (Evangelical) then Marco Rubio (Catholic)

They will Welcome America people to the GOP 4 night spectacle and show the nation Republicans are people that believe in Freedom of religion.  We’re a party that does NOT discrimination & one that believe that EVERYONE should have the opportunity to get the American dream.

I want Jon Huntsman to tell America Mormonism is not a CULT it’s a “Culture” one that values honesty, education and American exceptinalism.

Cul·ture  the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.
Ok….Side trip is over…. Back to ranting on Gannett and NISSAN tomorrow.

Have a Great Day
Sharyn
